Updates...
Apologies for not blogging, yes i know it has been a long while. Esp for my faithful readers Abriel & 3notes (sorry! Here I am again!!!).
Studies
Trying to read up on my textbook as exam's coming up, but I often end up falling asleep while reading. tsk tsk tsk. Discipline...discipline...I must.
Family & Friends
It's some sort of my tradition to burn lanterns every mid-autumn festival, nothing ritual, it just for fun - only opportunity to burn things outside the house. My brother and I were having fun laying out candles along the corridor and playing sparklers last Friday night.
Over the weekend we stayed over at Aloha changi chalet together with 2 other church mates from God@work for moon gazing, burning lanterns and candles again! Derek oso had his fair share of fun burning those left over candle boxes...
September seems to be an auspicious month huh at least one wedding each weekend. I have been attending so many weddings. Just attended another one yesterday. Feel a little detached from my secondary school friends cause I have not been in contact with most of them. It was good to see them after so long. Oh, how we have matured. heehee. I guess I'll only get to see most of my classmates at birthdays or weddings celebration. Attending one wedding this Sat and another next weekend!
Work
With my supervisor leaving for Mission, I am given additional responsibilities, transition into working independently. First, I thank God that she is obedient to God's call to mission. Second, I thank God for her guidance all these years. I see how she is able to dream big and attain them.
Lesson learnt last week:
2 Timothy 1:16-17
"The Lord grant mercy to the household of Onesiphorus, for he often refreshed me, and was not ashamed of my chain.
But when he arrived in Rome, he sought me out very zealously and found me."One who diligently look out for a friend. Going out of his convenience to provide necessity and rest to others especially in times of distress.
One who OFTEN -not once but continually refresh others. Encourage, build and affirm. I think this lesson is applicable to family, friends, colleagues and even people who cross our paths. Using the
Five Love Languages by Gary Chapman: Words of Affimatiom , Act of Service, Gifts, Quality Time and Touch (hug, massage, a pat on their back). And just this afternoon, my anonymous Onesiohorus left a can of 'Japanese Extra Strong Coffee' on my desk to perk my day!! yum yum.. =P
Why didn't I use the example of Barnabas instead? Coz Barnabas was like a peer, close friend to Paul, accountable partner and personal encourager - whereas Onesiphorus seems to be a very ordinary man having a heart towards Paul and his ministry & was greatly praised by Paul for his kindness and hospitality. If you search through the Bible, he was only mentioned once in the book of 2 Timothy. (Thus this ordinary guy is worth taking note of) so u see... Ordinary people doing extraordinary things can
Make
A Difference! =)
Be a Onesiphorus to someone today!
