Time to rest... and the analogy
First I had a fall on monday. Got a small deep cut which required 1 stitch on my left hand. Didn't know what exactly happened but the prime suspect would be my pair of shoes! I've thrown them away! Painful hand, painful thigh, painful pocket too!
Ok I've been hearing this over and over again - It's time to rest! Derek will definitely nod in agreement with the loud emphasis "
Yes"!
Been complaining that I'm tired, I'm restless, I'm exhausted. And seems like God sure know how to answer my prayers... Get 2 days MC so that I can stay home to rest. But on the days where I'm suppose to rest, this rebellious brad went out and got sun burnt! How nice of Mr. Sunshine =(
Well so much of my bad incidents, anyway here's what I wanna share for the week. I came across this article twice and thought it's something that God wants me to learn it well. It's like He reminding me again and again saying -
"My dear child: 1) I make u Rest, 2) Recognize the Lord and 3) be Restored." Enjoy reading tis::
abstract of "THE SHEEP WITH A BROKEN LEG"
A fascinating explanation the eighth verse of Psalm 51 in relationship to ancient shepherding practices. It is said shepherds used to break a leg bone of wandering sheep, bind up the broken leg, and carry these sheep close, on the shepherd's shoulders. As the bones mended, a relationship and comfort between the shepherd and the sheep would be built, making the sheep less likely to wander in the future, keeping the sheep close to the shepherd. David, the writer of this Psalm, had a shepherding background and would be literate of the practices of the time.
What an amazing analogy this is as we face the reality of our pain, we are brought to a realization of our need for the shepherd (and, of course, immediately this brings to mind the Good Shepherd). The shepherd nurses us back to health and we grow to know and love the shepherd, understanding the necessity of the pain. We don't want to wander any longer, having a deeper relationship with our shepherd, we know our own limitations and dependencies, and we know the danger of wandering from the shepherd's care. We want to stay close to Him, our Shepherd.
Gratefully in Christ I rest... =)
