An Evening with Alvaro Sanchez
I recieved free tixs to attend a performance at Victoria Concert Hall today! Its a fund raising project for St. Andrew's Cathedral in building of their extension of "THE QUIET PLACE".
You might be wondering who's Alvaro? here's a little background -Well he's a world-class guitar virtuoso colombian who stayed in Spain.
Just read his biography --He played for Queen Elizabeth of England & King Juan Carlos of Spain. He even performed that piece entitled, "Meditation Flamenco" at the Barcelona Olympics. Does it ring a bell to you? coz i've got no idea!! hahaha
yep, anyway the performance tonite was good. Didnt really appreciate the second part: where he played on a spainish guitar along with the chinese orchestar-blends in pretty well but i juz didnt feel comfort with the arrangement =P
The best part is alwaiz the Grand Finale!!
"Expresion Jazz" was more up-beat & hype! He was Jam'in with his special asian guests on the Saxophone, Drums, Bass & piano. To my surprise Eunice Olsen (Former Miss Singapore) played the piano! but there wasnt any solo on her part tho.
the band even played Hymns in bossa nova style... adds a fresh touch to those oldies =P hmmm maybe that's a good idea to implement some of these techniques for sunday service huh? hee hee... well i'll leave that to expert abriel to handle.
what a night of JAZZ- it's not a kind of music but a way of approaching music. I need more time to cultivate the interest & i'm still working on it.
Thk God for this opportunity. It came in at the right time! Good to pamper oneself once awhile. =) it's been such a long day for me, gtg. another long day tml..nitezzz
