Culture Shock 2004
Culture Shock this year to me was a huge success man!!!! Kudos to Andrew and Melissa to organising this whole entire event that would blow anyones mind just to handle it... My day started late.. cos last night we were up until 5.30am playing warcraft with nicholas and gang... so we got up at 12pm then grabbed a drive-thru at Hungry Jacks before going to meet Andrew at 1pm at the Ukrainian Community Centre where the event was gonna be held..
when we got there, the hall was like bare.. some of the production crew were already there setting up the place but they had only just started.. and Andrew wasn't there cos he was settling stuff over at church so he just told me what to do and where to go.. basically had to pick up food from peoples' houses.. and they cooked a lot of stuff man!! one lady cooked like 25kg of chicken!!! so it was like in 2 huge pots.. and the other one I had to pick up many many trays of some cakish dessert stuff.. made me hungry just smelling the chicken..
then made a few trips to various different macdonalds to get the Orange Bowls... ok and now many of you are going, "What the?!" Orange Bowls are basically Cambro's or Coleman's or HUGE WATER CONTAINERs that belongs to Macdonalds and they have like the big M and they're yellow in colour.. obvious that's its Mackers one lah.. anyway yeah they actually allow people to loan those stuff, and its basically free for use, just have to book like one day before hand and pay like a $20 or $50 deposit... if you want syrup or cups then u got to pay extra, but ice is free, and when you return it you get ur deposit back!!! so cool right?!?! perfect for parties and you don't have to pay a single cent!!! imagine going to a macdonalds in singapore and going, "can i borrow a cambro for a party?" even if they do let you have it, they probably charge you... hehehehe...
anyways when we got back at about 6pm, half hour before it's supposed to start, all the decor was up already!!! it's so cool man.. artifacts from all over, and native Aboriginal art and Chinese deco and Indian stuff.. it was really just spectacular... and the performances were also so cool!! from the New Zealand Hakka, to Javanese dance, to Filipino dance, to even Latin and LINE DANCING!!!! and the FOOD!!! so much food... cept for the Indonesian stall which finished out like so early cos they didn't prepare enough.. but there was still so much left over.. i dapao ba zhang home for breakfast.. kekeke..
All in all IT WAS GREAT FUN!!!! kekeke.. will post up photos of the event soon once I get them from... MILTON!!! hehehe..
OOOOOO YEAH!!! Thanks MIL for the drumsticks!!! he gave me a pair yesterday!!! so unexpected man.. you the man!! hahahaha...
ok tom is another day with SY ROGERS!!!! Can't wait man!!! He's such a solid speaker.. when he spoke for xlr8 on friday, I was just blown away by his uncanny down-to-earth thinking and understanding and the way he presented himself and the message he was bringing.. he's really one of the best speakers I've heard... and he's like one of the renown experts on sexuality issues.... cos he was a former active gay and homo and almost underwent a sex change to be a female... cool right?! anyways that's another story... gdnite!!!!
