Thoughts for Today
After finishing the book of Exodus and as I was praying just now, this thought just came to me... and so I'm gonna share it with all of you, open for discussion, for comments, other sharings, that we all might benefit from it...
From Exo 25-31, God gives detailed instructions on the design and construction of the Ark of the Covenant and the Tabernacle. This is because as stated in Exo 25:8, " I want the people of Israel to build me a sacred residence where I can live among them."
The thought that came to me was this -
Why would God resort Himself to living in a residence?
No building or temple can ever contain His glory and splendour and majesty! Yet He wanted to live among the Israelites! Earlier on in Exo 3:1, Mount Horeb or Mount Sinai is called 'the mountain of God'. And God leads the Israelites to this mountain that He may give them His commandments. Yet even a mountain is not big enough for God!
Then as believers of Christ, we know that God dwells in His people, He no longer requires for a building, because we are His temple and He longs to dwell in our hearts! Indeed, all along throughout the Bible, God has always been wanting to have a dwelling place with His people! He loves us so much that He would want to dwell with us, spend time with us, rather than being that high and unreachable God. He wants us to know that He is always near, always willing to hear us, always just a prayer away.
Here's a link to an illustrated description of the
Tabernacle. Pretty interesting points that I found!
If you do have other viewpoints, or something else that you may have learnt from this, pls feel free to leave a comment, a chatterbox note, even a guestbook entry! Let us share in our experiences in God that we might encourage one another in Christ...
