Sushi and Thaipusam
I was awake very early this morning... =) ok to me it was very early.. I was awake at like 945am already... somehow after waking up I couldn't get back to sleep, so I decided to get up... rotted at home, and did some minor packing of my stuff.. man I realise that I got a lot of things to pack and get too!!! argh more money to spend!! =( anyways later on the afternoon, went out to orchard to meet esther and elvin for sakae sushi lunch!!! talk about finally!! I've been wanting to eat there for years!! well I think the sushi left more to be desired.. they didn't do the rice properly, so it was really seperating all over, but the soft-shell crab handrolls were very nice!! =) all in all I had 7 handrolls of different kinds, and dozens of other sushi stuff... hehehe =) so full man!! esther and elvin just looked at me in disbelief.. hahaha!! then we just sat and talked until the end of the buffet at 6pm... from there we walked on to PS to shop around before they headed home and I headed off to church for music practise...
while passing by little india, I passed by the Thaipusam festival that was going on... I was just looking at those devotees, they carrying the kavadi and hanging fruits on the bodies and stuff.. and others around them singing along and clapping and dancing and yet others watching along the road... What causes their devotion to be so great? I read up about the Thaipusam festival.. its apparantly a festival to celebrate the son of a hindu god who is the universal granter of wishes.. for devotees to seek future wishes, thank him for past wishes, or forgiveness of sins. Those who carry the kavadi are in a trance when they carry these...
Such is the spiritual stronghold over the hindus... they go into a trance for gdness sakes!! they voluntarily let spirits take control of their bodies!! all this for seeking favours? for thanksgiving? for SALVATION?! Does not our God do the same thing for each and everyone of us? He has already COMPLETED the WORK!!! God has saved us and redeemed us from our sins by sending His precious gift, His one and only Son, the ultimate sacrifice, the Lamb of God, Jesus Christ died for us my friends!! He DIED that we may LIVE, His hands were pierced WIDE OPEN, accepting all who are willing to believe in His name, His body was wounded and bleeding that we might be healed from all illnesses!! Thank you Jesus!!!
