Purity in Relationships..
Ps Jeremy Seaward shared something that's close to my heart... and it really spoke to me... he shared about Purity in Relationships. Just look all around and you find so many things that can distract you and pull you away from God, like magazines, posters, television, newspapers, all the stories on sex, lust, greed, violence, its everywhere! Yet how do we stay unaffected by all these things? Even in our relationships, how do you fight the constant battle that is being pure in God's sight?
Purity is being undiluted, being undefiled. And God promises so much if we are pure, just a few verses like Psalms 24, Proverbs 22:11, and Matthew 5:8. How important purity is!!
So in our relationships with other people, how do we keep them pure?
Well firstly we have to relate to them in brotherly love, sisterly love. Not by the virtue of the strong connection between 2 individuals. This is because we are first related because we are all brothers and sisters in Christ as written in 1 Thess 4:9! Nothing more! Would you be kissing your sister or brother? In the same way, let us be approaching and communicating with each other in kinship.
Secondly we have to wait for God's timing. In Songs of Solomon 8:4, it states, "I charge you, ye daughters of Jerusalem, that ye not stir up, nor awake my love, until he please." In other words its saying, "I
COMMAND you, do not stir up feelings of love or affection until the timing is right!" Waiting on God is the best way to find out when you are actually ready for a relationship and who that final person would be. I speak convicted because I have found myself getting into a relationship without really putting God first and letting Him decide what's best for me. Over the years it gets more and more difficult to let go, but God is saying that we need to surrender everything to Him and put Him on the throne of our hearts, cos that's when everything will fall into place, even in your relationships!
I pray that God will help me to place my entire being into the offering bag and tell Him that I need Him to be on the throne. Perhaps I need to take a step back from my relationship and see what God has planned for me, because His plan is always the best. Oh Lord please be that lamp unto my feet and the light unto my path, that I may know and understand what you have in store, that I may not be distracted by things that may be pulling me away from You, that I may know from You the one that you have chosen for me, not my will but your Will O Lord... Amen...
