Getting your feet wet (part 3) -- "I'm sorry" is just not enough

I've been thinking and asking: What else is there to explore for "getting my feet wet" part 3? Thought my previous post (part 2) was the end of it.

Interestingly, Sunday's message was on Joshua 3! Wow, so excited! There's always new insights to God's word. Yesterday's emphasis was on verse 5.

Joshua told the people, "Consecrate yourselves, for tomorrow the LORD will do amazing things among you."

It brought to my attention that I've missed out the first and most important step. I got too excited about entering the 'promise land' that I forgot to consecrate(set apart/make holy) myself! With unconfessed sins, we hinder God's plan to take place in our lives. True repentance requires us to turn away from sin and doing something about it. Trusting that God is faithful and just to forgive us of all our unrighteousness. (1 John 1:9) I'm amazed and humbled by the Lord's reminder (wake up call) once again with heartfelt repentance and thanksgiving, the church knelt before the altar and rededicate our lives to HIM.

Speaking of repentence and apologies....many a times we failed to speak the right language of apology that can greatly help enhance or repair our relationships with one another.

Saying "I'm sorry" is just not enough.

Dr. Gray Chapmen, author of The Five Love Languages offers proven technique in speaking The Five Languages of Apology.

* Expressing Regret
* Accepting Responsibility
* Making Restitution
* Genuinely Repenting
* Requesting Forgiveness

Applicable to all of us in relating to people around us... and even to our Abba Father. :)
